Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an Indian-born British American musician and sitarist, is most well-known for her music. She is the youngest woman and the first to receive an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka is a emerging star of Indian sitar. She is a scholar and granddaughter of legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born in London in 1982. In during her early years, she swam in London New Delhi. At New Delhi, she made her first appearance at only 13 years of age. When she moved to Encinitas CA in 1999 she received an honorary high school degree. Anouskha is yet to be a mature woman nevertheless, she has an impressive career in music and performance. She often joins her father on stage, which she's been doing for several years. The year 1998 saw her debuted Anourag as her debut single album. The following year, she released the Grammy nominated Live in Carnegie Hall. Stage performances are a important aspect of her life. She's performed at many famous venues around the world. Anoushka's career goes beyond music. She released Bapi The Heart of My Life, in 2002. This is a picture biographical work that is a tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In addition, she acted in a film in 2003. Her role was a Bharat Nayam dancer on Dance Like a Man. Anoushka Shankar was born and raised in England and spent much of her childhood in London and Delhi after which she moved to California where she attended the high school. In Delhi during his birthday celebrations for his 75th birthday she made her debut playing the sitar before the crowd of just four years after her 9-year-old father. Anoushka gained a lot of knowledge by traveling across the globe with her dad. She played in Carnegie Hall in her teenage time, and also recorded at George Harrison's WOMAD Festival. She was the first woman to receive the House of Commons Shield, given by the British Parliament in recognition of her musical talent and artistic ability in the Asian Arts.
